Call for Abstracts & Papers
Participants wishing to make a presentation on the results of their recent research / practice are cordially invited to submit abstract according to the below mentioned instructions. Accepted papers will be presented either in oral or poster sessions.
Categories for abstract submission are:
- Orations
- Free Papers
- Award Papers
- Invited Guest Lectures
- Posters
Important Guidelines:
- It is mandatory for all authors to submit their abstract online. The offline abstract by post, the scanned copy OR by any other means will not be accepted.
- For multiple abstract submissions, the author has to re-login with same E-mail ID but different password(s). There is no limit for the no. of abstract submissions an author can submit.
- For abstract submission, registration is not mandatory. Authors need to choose their relative category on online software and proceed. However, in case the registration fee is not received till 31st October 2010, the papers will not be considered for presentation.
- Delegates who have registered offline (made payment by cheque or DD) please register as new registrant and select the option for pay later on the confirm and pay page and upload the abstract.
Abstract Format:
For all of the categories, the abstract should be in the following:
- Title should be in capital letters, double spaced between the title and the presenter’s names, single spaced between the presenter’s name and the text of the abstract and abstract in single space.
- Write author/presenter’s name and E-mail ID just below the title.
- The abstract should be typed in Times New Roman and a 12 font size.
- For Free papers, Award Papers, Invited Guest talks and Posters- the combined length of the abstract body, title, aim, methodology and conclusion should not exceed 200 words.
- For Oration, it is required to attach a passport size photograph and write a 150 words CV along with the abstract. The CV should be written first followed by the abstract in the same document. The combined length of the CV and abstract body should not exceed 1000 words.
Declaration of Conflict of Interest:
All participants shall disclose to the audience any significant conflict of interests including financial or any other relationships with manufacturers of commercial products (including drugs, equipments etc) or services discussed in their presentations. The disclosure is not to prevent a speaker with a significant relationship with a product from speaking about the product, but rather to judge whether speaker’s interests and relationships have influenced the presentation. If there is no interest to declare, then a “nothing to disclose” declaration shall be made.
Online abstract should be uploaded in .doc file (word format) only. Maximum size of the file is 200 kb.

Important Notes:
- All presenting authors must register for the conference as delegates latest by 31st October, 2010. In case, the registration fee is not received till 31st October, 2010, the papers will not be considered for publication.
- The abstract review committee and the scientific committee reserve the right to accept or reject the abstract.

Orations
Rules for Oration
All orations carry the same prestige and there is no ranking of the orations. The applicant for oration needs to be a life member of IADVL. However, individuals who have done commendable work in our specialty will be eligible for nomination for the oration even when they are not members of IADVL. Online submission is mandatory*
All applications are to be submitted to the Honorary General Secretary of IADVL before 1st September 2010.

General Rules for Awards, Medals, and Prizes
- Time allotted is 7 minutes.
- Text Photo and table slides by power point presentation only. Total slides 16, to keep the clarity and visibility, each slide should not contain more then 8 lines.
- Name of the presenter and the institute are not to be displayed during competition but may be mentioned while submission of abstracts and while announcing the result.
- The participant must be member of our Association and must register his/her name as a delegate to the National Conference and must mention his/her AM/LM number.
- A summary of the paper of approximately 200 words should accompany the application.
- The work may be of the competitor alone or may be of a group of persons, but the competitor’s name must be the first amongst them.
- While selecting the participants for the award of medals and prizes, preference will be given to those participants who have not participated earlier if the subject and the quality of the work of both the participant, i.e., those who have participated earlier and those who are participating fresh appear to be similar. This is to create room for other competitors.
- Questions, for clarification, if any, should be from the judges only, after the completion of the presentation.
Members of the Scientific Committee and the IADVL Academy have the discretionary power to select a total of 12 entries for the Award Papers in the event of more entries.
Criteria for short listing of papers for IADVL Award Section:
- Valid membership of IADVL: to be confirmed by Honorary General Secretary of IAVDL
- Eligibility
- 1-2 years for membership less than 35 yrs
- 3 years for more than 35 yrs
- 5 years for more than 40 yrs
- All submitted papers’ summaries will be circulated to all members of scientific committee and IADVL Academy of Dermatology

Prof. H.C. Mohanti Award to the best paper in leprosy presented during DERMACON – 2011.
M.G.M. Medical College Prize to a male / female dermatologist below 35 years of age for a paper presented during award session.
Prof. F. Handa Prize to a male/female dermatologist below 35 years of age for a paper presented during award session.
Prof. B.N. Banerjee Medal to a male/female dermatologist below 35 years of age for an original paper presented during award session or published in IJDVL in that year.
Dr. B.B. Gokhale Medal to a male/female dermatologist below 35 years of the age for a paper presented during award session.
Prof. K. Siddappa Medal to a male/female postgraduate student for original research work presented in award paper presentation.
Prof. D.K. Gupta Medal to a female postgraduate student for original research work presented in award paper session.
Dr. Manu Patel Memorial Prize for best poster presented during DERMACON – 2011
Dr. Bishnupriya Debi Award for best published paper in IJDVL.
Mrs. Indubala Memorial Award for published work in the field of Occupational or Contact Dermatitis.
Dr. C. S. Bhavani Kumar Memorial Award to a dermatologist below 45 years for best paper presented in field of dermatosurgery.

- For the following awards, applications will be invited in IADVL News of August 2010 and website in the first week of August and the applicant has to apply before 1st September to the Honorary General Secretary.
Dr. L. N. Sinha Memorial Award to dermatologists under 45 years for overall contribution and not only scientific achievements on zonal basis
Prof. V. N. Sehgal Award for excellence in Dermatology.
Prof. L.K. Bhutani Memorial Award for Teaching and Research.
Prof. Ganpati Panja Memorial Award for Clinical Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
Prof. G. Senthalmil Selvi Award for best published work in the field of Mycology.
Prof S Premalatha Award for the best research Project in Dermatology
Selection Procedure:
- The applications for these awards are to be submitted to the Hon. General Secretary of IADVL. The last date to submit the application to Hon. General Secretary shall be 1st September of every year.
- The Hon. General Secretary will forward the applications to the Chairperson of the IADVL Academy of Dermatology for evaluation by the members of the Academy.
- The IADVL Academy of Dermatology will process the applications on above criteria in consultation with the president of IADVL.
- The name of three nominees will be selected and discussed with the Central Scientific Committee for final approval.
- The final decision will be taken during the meeting of the Central Scientific Committee.
- The Hon. General Secretary shall intimate the selected awardees that an award will be given during the IADVL felicitation day during DERMACON-2011.
- Dr. L. Marquis Memento Award for best lecture delivered by a guest speaker.
This award is given by the scientific committee of DERMACON-2011 in consultation with the National Executive of IADVL.
Free Papers & Award Papers
Instruction for presenters:
- The presenter should essentially be a member of IADVL (LM/ALM/PLM)
- Time allotted is 7 minutes.
- Test, photo and table slides by power point presentation only.
- Total slides – 16 for award papers.
- Name of the presenter and the institution are not to be displayed during award papers presentation but may be mentioned while submission of abstracts and while announcing the result.
- Slides should not be overcrowded with material and should be able to be read by the audience. Hence each slide should not contain more than 8 lines.
- Presentation by the speakers should be clear and audible with proper explanation wherever necessary.
- More than one paper can be presented by a delegate. However, the scientific committee will have the option to shift the free paper to poster presentation.
- Questions, for clarification, if any, should be from the judges only, after the completion of the presentation.
- Pre-registration for the conference is compulsory.
- Online abstract submission is mandatory. Please follow the instructions on conference website.
- Acceptance or otherwise will be informed to the presenters by November 15th, 2010.
Poster Presentation
Guidelines for Poster Presentation
- Online abstract submission is mandatory. Please follow the instructions on conference website.
- Pre-registration for conference is compulsory for poster presentation.
- Poster accepted for the conference will be the exclusive property of DERMACON-2011
Abstract for Research outcome presentation should include:
Introduction: Concisely state the main objective of the study.
Methodology: Describe the design of the study, the setting and the patients involved.
Results: To be included and summarized with relevant statistical analysis.
Conclusion: Should be directly supported by the data.
Abstract for case report presentation should include:
Introduction: Concisely describe the rarity of the case.
Case Report: Describe the clinical presentation of the case or the uniqueness of the surgical technique adopted.
Conclusion: Concisely conclude the case report.
Poster Size: should be 3 ft (width) x 4 ft (height). Poster of size in excess of these dimensions will not be permitted to be displayed. Each poster will be allotted a number which will be displayed on the poster boards. Avoid using plain paper and also sticking multiple A4 size sheets for poster. Mention the name, address and the e-mail of the author at the bottom left of the poster in capital letters.
Presenting authors will be required to be present at a specified time (to be intimated later) by the poster side for discussion with judges for best poster award.
