The Venue City
Gurgaon, located in the National Capital Region, is the most rapidly developing colonnade of greater Delhi. It lies close to the international and domestic airports. Also known as the millennium city, it has emerged as the hub of IT and other new age businesses. Its proximity to the national capital of Delhi is an added advantage. It enjoys all the facilities available in Delhi. Gurgaon is home to offices of several MNCs, and is well linked by rail and road to Delhi, Faridabad and Jaipur.
The origin of the city's name is steeped in Hindu mythology. Legend has it that Gurgaon is the ancestral village of Guru Dronacharya, the teacher of the Pandavas and Kauravas in the Indian epic, Mahabharata. In Sanskrit, Guru means teacher, which in this case refers to Dronacharya and Gram means village. According to Hindu mythology, the village was gifted by the Pandavas and Kauravas to Dronacharya, the son of Rishi Bhardwaj, and was, therefore, known as Gurugram. Over time, colloquial term gaon (which also means village in Prakrit) was substituted for gram and the name Gurgaon emerged.
